The arrival of each new month at the church I attend brings with it a new Sunday service theme. March's theme is gratitude. We've been challenged to recognize that gratitude is a way of being and not a response. To stop interpreting and judging the glass to be either half full or half empty and just simply be grateful for the water. I have gotten out of the habit, but each day I aim to recognize something I am grateful for, develop a running list. Here are some for starters:
My health
Jules
My job
Water
Shoes
My car
Books
Irish tea
Santa Cruz
Velcro
Fresh food
My bike
Sammy
Can I play?
I'm grateful for:
-- friends
-- family who are friends
-- Santa Cruz
-- my creativity
-- my work
-- my camera & my laptop
-- sunny days
-- Saturday mornings
-- This American Life
-- peanut butter
-- my therapist
-- good journalism
-- entertaining blogs

ok- Donal. You are not the only one who is grateful for Velcro. These guys wrote a song about it:

A couple of additions to my list (this is the more superficial list since the sappy one was posted earlier):
~ Dharmaa's steamed vegetables w/ cheese
~ Nirvana & Kurt Cobain (for getting me through being 16-17)
~ Minnesota Public Radio: The Current via streaming audio(for getting me through my work day in groovin' style ~ right now it is Charlatans UK "NYC")
~ HBO's fantastic shows (namely The Wire, Deadwood & Six Feet Under)
~ what the hell, I'm thankful for the guy that dreamed up TV shows on DVD & for Netflix
~ Mother Jones magazine

April-
I was going to add Netflix to my list too, but I took it off right before I hit send.
Since I'm posting again, we might as well add:
porkroll (breakfast meat made in NJ)
ouifm.fr et dj zebra (gets me through the workday, along with pandora)
