If you want to move through traffic stops quickly, ride a bicycle. I am a cyclist. I love my bike and I try to ride it as often as I can. The more time my car stays in its parking space, the happier I am.
I have noticed the drivers tend to cut me a lot of slack when I am on my bike. Without fail, even when I am the last to arrive at a multi-stop stop sign, drivers will wave me through first. I don't know whether these are other cyclist who do it as an act of solidarity, or they are rewarding my non-carbon emissions mode of transport, or they simply don't want me to have to put my feet down as I gingerly keep my balance as I await my turn, but regardless I appreciate that they send me on my way without delay.
Oh what joy to see "Head Scratch" pop up in my reader! :)
I think it is fantastic that you are a bike enthusiast, Donal. And I'm delighted to read that drivers are so courteous to you. More often we hear stories of drivers bullying bikers. I'm going to go with them not wanting to see you put your feet down. Maybe their abs are burning in sympathy just watching you balance at the stop sign!

He's back!!!!
Or maybe (like me) they don't know the rules about letting bikers go!
I try to be nice to bikers in general.
Although one time I saw a biker who wasn't paying attention slam his bike into the back of a BMW at a stoplight at Seabright. It was pretty funny!!!

Victoria, now that I know how crazy fast you can go, let's agree not to bump into each other.
And April, thanks for noticing my abs. The Spa Fitness membership is finally paying off.

FRA will have to send out a memo, Donal, if you don't keep those abs in check. I know I have trouble concentrating when you walk by, at least!

At least there are bike lanes in California. I got hit by a car in North Carolina when I was riding my bike. And people would drive by an lean on their horns. There was no bike lane so I had to teeter on the white line or fall in a ditch.
